DOWNTOWN REDMOND MUSIC EVENT SERIES REBRAND
cre

The City of Redmond has long been home to musicians and other performing artists. But the city noticed their “official” events were losing steam and audiences so the internal marketing team needed a strategy to revitalize the Downtown Redmond arts, music and culture scene; which has a significant impact on the local economy as a regional tourism draw.

After going through a series of naming/branding exercises and concepts with the city art administrator and the curators during our idea mapping and creative think tanks we developed the theme, Cre8tivZoo. The name alone is unique, but more importantly it gave the city the ability to be mysterious; while visually injecting several themes from wild instruments and animal prints, to music and art elements, or whatever the viewer interpreted it to be; which proved artistic, hip and effective when building out the collateral material design and appealing to the emerging new creative community.

Now Downtown Redmond is hosting Cre8tivZoo, a new type of music series developed by the Devin James Group that celebrates the wild and unexpected side of Physical Music, marrying together kinetic sculpture, live music and dance in wildly innovative performances. Cre8tivZoo, an official production of the City of Redmond, is a free exhibition of innovative and wildly creative music in Downtown Redmond occurring between September through December 2013.

“Downtown Redmond is delighted to host Cre8tivZoo and their roster of accomplished musicians,” says Joshua Heim, arts administrator for the City of Redmond. He adds, “Redmond has embraced the performing arts for the last 30 years, and Cre8tivZoo represents our commitment to develop new formats that keep pace with the development of our beautiful city.”
